Phil con Fripp e Wetton. Nuove tracce..

Ho appena finito di scaricare (a pagamento: 1 dollaro!) l'ultima tranche di sessions del trio Fripp, Collins, Wetton. Il drumming di Phil è assolutamente formidabile. L'ho trovato fantastico come gli altri estratti già dispensati da Bf.

Qualcuno sa se questa era soltanto la prova di Exposure o si è mai pensato di fare un gruppo che, naturalmente, abvrebbe dato luogo ai nuovi King Crimson. Con Collins!

Sarebbe una sliding door molto interessante... Phil si sarebbe offerto agli Who meno di un anno dopo, segno che aveva qualche frustrazione con gli altri due. Un'unione musicale con FRipp avrebbe cambiato la nostra storia, no?

(Avremmo perso ATTWT e DUKE, ma anche ABACAB e magari FACE VALUE!)

“A bit more guitar!” says Phil Collins as he prepares to go through another take of what would turn out to be Disengage. It’s a barbed kind of riff which the players are still getting to grips with as John Wetton’s “I can’t remember the beginning” comment indicates. “No worries” says Fripp has he shows his old band mate the introduction before he counts the three of them in.

One part surgical precision and two parts blunt object, had 1974’s incarnation of Crimson continued this track may not have been a million miles away from what they might have sounded like.

Consisting of four different takes of the same track, we get to hear the anatomy of Disengage as it begins to breath and stretch. It’s interesting to hear each musicians trying out little experiments, pockets, retreats and chancing the occasional headlong thrust as the temperature rises or the inclination takes them.

Not all of it us quite yet under their fingertips so we hear the musicians listening to the parts, their own groove, and the others in the room - though not always in that order. And how about that brief break-out solo from Robert on version 2. Phew! Never mind what might have been - here it is!

phil sarebbe adesso meno ricco ma probabilmente avrebbe la palma di miglior batterista della storia del rock.

cosa che oggi nessuno gli riconosce, e gli sta bene: vorrei proprio sapere se ogni tanto si rivede nella sua testa comporre quelle belle parti di tonightx3 e cosa ne pensi col senno di poi.

avremmo perso dei dischi ai quali siamo tutti affezionati ma ne avremmo avuti altri molto più qualitativi.

e magari un phil fuori dai genesis ma nei king con fripp che lavorava con peter in quel periodo magari ... avremmo avuto un bel quartetto [:p]
