Chris Squire and Genesis’ Steve Hackett are working together on a new album.The record is 75% completed and the duo may tour in the Spring.And the name? "We may call it Squackett"[:p][:D][;)][:0]

...la cosa strana è che Squire con queste poche parole lascia intendere tutt'altro rispetto a quanto detto in merito da Steve ad Orvieto...dà, per es., x scontato che il duo promuoverà in primavera il nuovo album!!!

Steve sta risolvendo solo ora gli ultimi "problemi" legati all'ex manager Billy Budis: ci sono di mezzo situazioni assai delicate che richiedono tempo ma è vicino alla conclusione ed una volta fatto questo si parte con disco e tour. Hackett è più riservato e prudente di Squire, da qui forse le diverse parole ma la sostanza non è troppo lontana da quello che dice Chris.

Concordo pienamente, Mino...quello che mi sfugge è xkè Steve che già tre anni fa era al capolinea con BB x motivi - diversi da quelli d'affari - ha continuato ad aver a che fare con lui: voglio dire, scoperto l'inganno[:0], si fanno i conti una volta per tutte e poi stop, della serie non vi voglio + vedere....invece a distaza di tre anni ancora stiamo a risolvere beghe contrattuali...Anche John Hackett mi aveva confermato che il disco esce a primavera x risolvere questo tipo di problema...secondo me Steve è stato un pò troppo morbido....cmq...
Certo che a Steve (dopo BillBruford (76 e Genesis Revisited), R.Wakeman ('81), e Steve Howe (Gtr))degli Yes gli manca solo Jon Anderson![:p]

"We're nearly 75 percent done," Squire says. "It's real good. Steve Hackett is a very underrated writer and actually a very good singer. We're doing a lot of harmonizing, and some of it is almost in the Crosby, Stills & Nash vein." (un pò come Gilmour con On an Island)

In realtà la situazione non è così semplice, Billy non era solamente un dipendente di Steve ma è tuttora anche socio (con Kim) della Camino e ci sono ancora dei nodi da sciogliere a livello contrattuale e non solo.

Il punto della situazione...

Chris Squire about his collaboration with Steve Hackett

Work is ongoing on a rock album with Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis, ex-GTR) on guitar and Chris Squire on bass. Following Hackett's appearence on Chris Squire's Swiss Choir, Squire did some work on a planned solo project by Hackett, but this has developed into a collaboration.
In an early Nov interview, Squire explained, "Following on from [Swiss Choir], I went round to his studio and played on some things for him that he had been working on I think from a view to making a solo album. [...] he had been working on a new project and asked me to join in on it. Once I became involved in it, we started writing new material together and now it's developing into another project, which I think, is collaboration and I think it's going to be called Squackett." A release is due early 2009.
In the Nov interview Squire went on:
It’s about 70% done on my part. Before I left England for the States, I tried to do as much work on it as possible and left Steve with it to add guitar parts, etc. Fortunately in this modern day of the Internet I get the tracks sent to me and I can hear what he’s doing back there. That project is going to be finished by next spring anyway.
In a 9 Oct article, Squire had said:

An announcement from Steve Hackett's website about a joint Dec 2007 radio appearance read, "If we're lucky and there's time, there may be an exclusive advance playing of a new Hackett rock track featuring Chris on bass - this can't be guaranteed though!" In the end, the piece wasn't played. In a Sep post on Yesfans.com, Squire said that some of the songs he had been working on for his next solo album (see above) "have been diverted to the project [...] with Hackett." This includes "Aliens are Only Us from the Future", which in another form is also being played live on the current tour by Steve Howe, Chris Squire and Alan White of Yes (see main page).
In an early 2008 interview in German magazine Eclipsed, Hackett describes the line-up as being with Squire and his brother John and that he would like to get Simon Phillips (Toto, ex-Mike Oldfield, ex-Mike Rutherford) on drums. Asked about the possibility of touring, Hackett replied that he hoped Squire and Phillips would have the time.
Phillips was subsequently confirmed for the album and one Jan 2008 interview with him suggested he had already laid down tracks, while a Jun rumour suggested that a line-up including Hackett, Squire and Phillips were seeking to arrange live dates for 2008.
Those plans have shifted, with the 9 Oct article saying Spring 2009 European dates are planned.
In a Sep 2008 interview for Bass Player (US; Jan 2009 issue), Squire says: "we're planning to go out and do a tour together, probably in the spring [...] we might do some Fish Out of Water songs."

In pratica Steve sta componendo nuovi brani per il prossimo disco rock, con Chris Squire al basso e alla voce, Simon Phillips alla batteria ed altri ospiti a sorpresa. Nel frattempo trova il tempo per il prossimo album con Squire, lo "SQUACKETT".

Oltre al completamento del disco con Squire il nostro Steve ha già composto altri brani rock, al momento senza una precisa destinazione ma comunque segno di una profilicità che fa ben sperare.

speriamo in qualcosa di meglio dell'"inedito" inserito nel doppio OOTTM arrivato un paio di giorni fa....a proposito spero proprio che Steve mi stia ancora a sentire -dopo l'ultimo suggerimento londinese-inserendo nel set brani del passato come absent friends salmacis can utility supper's ready oltre aisle of plenty e hairless heart come ha già cominciato a fare con grande emozione qui

e che soprattutto la smetta a far cantare BOTR a Gary la versione sul cuitatto doppio da metà in poi è uno scempio...così come pure mi auguro torni alla versione accorciata di FOF di qyualche tour fa...

io spero che cambi proprio batterista per quello che fa (o non riesce/vuole fare) alla batteria, troppo impersonale e precisino soprattutto per i pezzi dei G ma anche dello stesso steve (ad esempio ace of wands, ma anche everyday). capisco che phil è unico [^], però...
