Breve rece...
Sono arrivato alle 20.40 e avevamo i biglietti per la tribuna (quelli da 25). Poi ci siamo spostati sul lato sx per andare + vicino al palco ma non si sentiva benissimo..
Comunque bello bello bello, Steve mi è parso in forma e il bassista (!!!!) anche. Da dove eravamo si chiedevano in molti se era una donna o un uomo...........
Lacrimuccia ed entusiasmo su FoF (tutta completa, ormai l'unico che non ha il coraggio di suonare anche l'intro è Totonno), due stecche prontamente recuperate su Blood On The Rooftops (anche questa fatta tutta) e un bel set di pezzi. Mi sarebbe piaciuto sentire Narnia da PDT(il pezzo omonimo invece l'ha fatto) e Hands of the Priestess da VOTA.
La sorpresa della serata è stata la/il bassista, che ha fornito un contributo mooolto sostanzioso e si è esibito per gran parte del concerto con uno stick 10 corde.

1200 paganti, una quota discreta. Concordo con le prime impressioni qui sopra, scaletta eccellente ed esecuzioni in gran parte ottime con qualche piccolo problema di amalgama (superabile) e uno Steve galattico all'elettrica ma un pò arrugginito nelle parti acustiche (confermo le incertezze su Blood on the rooftops). Nick Beggs è un grande, musicista validissimo e buon showman.

13th March - Day 2

Last night's gig in Genova promised much, but did it deliver?

And how! From the opening drama of new song Fire On The Moon to the unleashed fury of Gary O'Toole's blistering drum solo on the timeless Clocks, Genova roared its approval, welcoming back one of rock's finest guitarist. It seemed like no time had passed as Steve and his band were more dynamic than ever. As one fan remarked, Hackett is like a fine wine - he seems to get better with age.

The awesome Firth Of Fifth, from its cascading piano to Steve's seminal guitar solo brought the house down, of course, but the new material was rapturously received too.

Bekilted Nick Beggs, bassist and Chapman Sticker extraordinaire, brought new power and vigour to old favourites; from thundering bottom end to searing solos he's the perfect foil to Steve's majestic guitar work.

And let's not forget Rob Townsend - from the poignant beauty of his Walking Away From Rainbows solo to the bestial violence of his Mechanical Bride solo - it's scarcely credible that this could all come from the one man.

Steve and the band took no prisoners in Genova. Roll on Schio - it promises to be another unforgettable night.
