Io invece faccio parte della corrente che vede nell'esordio dei Crimson la "vera" nascita del prog.
Non che prima non esistesse del tutto, ma li vedo come esperimenti, alcuni più riusciti altri troppo pomposi.

E' quindi difficilissimo per me stilare una classifica prog del 1967: dovrei ficcarci pure i Pink Floyd insomma, quando invece ho sempre ripetuto che per me non sono prog e non hanno nulla a che fare con esso, soprattutto in Piper...[:D]

Sono della corrente Eiselbergeriana[;)], sostengo che il verio esordio ufficiale di una certa corrente progressiva sia dovuto all'uscita del Faccione Cremisiano[:)], tuttavia cose interessanti ce ne sono in questi anni, dai Nice ai Beatles. Parlare di progressive secondo me è ancora prematuro ma c'è un sentimento di rinnovamento nella musica in quegli anni.

anche per me In the court è il disco di inizio, questo anno è sicuramente un pò forzato, ma non sia mai detto che mi tiro indietro per una classifica, segnalo solo:

Grazie per queste prime liste. Vero: i dischi catalogabili come progressivi sono pochini, ma l'aria di rinnovamento era ovunque e si traduceva in una dilagante contaminazione musicale. La nostra classifica nascente (ora nel post iniziale) ne coglie i punti essenziali, quelli che poi avrebbero porato al prog rock: classica, sperimentazione, psichedelia, jazz... forse manca ancora il lato folk del periodo, pure importante sulla strada che porterà... al faccione cremisi! [;)]

Per GuardianMagog: ho dovuto eliminare il terzo brano dei Nice (c'è un limite di due citazioni per artista). [;)]

Per Thomas: c'erano 11 brani nella tua lista. Chiaramente, è rimasto fuori l'ultimo. [;)]

Dalex dice che questi topic servono anche a conoscere nuove cose. Allora vorrei ricordare almeno: Nicola" di Bert Janch (folk barocco con tema bachiano che Anderson deve aver sicuramente ascoltato e che Steve ha ripreso), il primo album notevole degli H.P. Lovecraft, Hole in my shoe sempre dei Traffic,
l'album dei Left Banke (molto beatlesiani), qualcosa da Smiley smile dei Beach boys (un pezzo strumentale politonale per es.), e poi qualche bizzarria:
il primo album sperimentale di Ron Geesin che si chiama A raise of eyebrows, una suite dedicata allo zodiaco di un altro "sperimentatore" che si chiama Mort Garson, e poi una cosa assolutamente incredibile cioè Kaleidoscope vibration di un certo Gershon Kingsley tutto per suoni plasticosi di Moog; chi dice che gli ELP sono Kitsch dovrebbe ascoltare quest'album; c'è da morire dal ridere. Epperò è tutto per sintetizzatore moog, per chi pensa che il moog sia venuto fuori in Abbey road per la prima volta.

Per Marbian: la mia ammirazione per Burt Bacharach è incondizionata e inoltre per lui si potrebbero trovare alcuni collegamenti progressivi. Tuttavia non ne ho trovato nessuno per il brano della divina Dionne: in cosa sarebbe prog, proto-prog o almeno similprog? In attesa di risposta (tu ne sai molto più di me in fatto di musica) "congelo" il pezzo. L'altro brano - non entro nel merito della sua "progressività" [:-D] - è escluso perché Cilla Black lo portò al successo nel 1966. Puoi sostituirlo, se vuoi. [;)]

Pr quanto riguarda Alfie, una canzone dalle armonie geniali che per me va oltre ogni categoria, non posso che darti ragione con un pò di tristezza. E non posso manco piazzarla nel 1966 perchè manca l'anno.[:.-(]

Ma è una canzone che amo troppo quindi niente sostituzione

Su I say, caro Dalex, ci provo: a parte le armonie originali del brano, nel ritornello, all'altezza di I will love you, c'è un bel controtempo, desueto per gli schemi pop e molto più attinente al nostro genere. So che è un pò poco: Io la mia strenua e appassionata difesa l'ho fatta, ora mi appello alla benevolenza della corte [;)]

Forse perchè sono più conosciuti?[:-I][:D]

Inoltre è abbastanza plausibile che in una classifica prog del 1967 siano al primo posto: il prog ancora non esisteva[:-D]

Mi dispiace per i Love, credevo che fossero apprezzati da più persone (certo non saranno famosissimi...)[:(]

Forever Changes è un capolavoro di originalità e contaminazione.

Forever Changes è un disco meraviglioso, personalmente lo ritengo nel breve periodo persino più influente di Velvet Underground And Nico che poi con il passare degli anni ha dimostrato di essere forse uno dei 3 dischi più fondamentali del rock ma non sono davvero poche le band che sul finire degli anni 60 avevano come punto di riferimento il capolavoro dei Love

"Forever Changes" è davvero un bel disco. [:)]

Per i Pink Floyd vale un po' il discorso sui Beatles: mettono d'accordo quasi tutti. In ogni caso, "Astronomy Domine", che domina (è il caso di dirlo [:-D]) la nostra classifica è ancora un brano che dà i brividi a più di quarant'anni di distanza. L'ho risentito nel recente live di Gilmour e nonostante gli arrangiamenti semplificati (e la pancia prominente di David) è sempre un bel sentire. Progressivo o no? Con quel tasso d'innovazione, "Astronomy" può essere quel che preferite... [;)]

Forever changes è splendido, concordo con voi[8:-x][8:-x] ma è verissimo che i Love sono poco conosciuti, tieni presente che io li ho conosciuti al massimo una decina di anni fa, cercando musica su internet... mica prima[;)]

qui da noi la bella musica una volta arrivava molto in ritardo, ma soprattutto arrivava quella che scalava le classifiche (e fortunatamente una volta le classifiche erano piene di bella musica[:D]), ma certe proposte un po' più defilate penso che in Italia manco facevano capolino...

i Pink Floyd vabbè, ovvio che quelli sono più conosciuti di qualsiasi altro gruppo... in questo caso direi anche meritatamente, quelle canzoni di Piper sono incredibili, se pensi poi all'epoca in cui sono uscite... roba che persino adesso a me suona come sconvolgente, sono d'accordo con Dalex...[:p]

So che sono arrivato fuori tempo massimo, ma vorrei esprimere lo stesso le mie preferenze, anche se queste preferenze non vanno conteggiate nella classifica definitiva. Purtroppo recentemente sono stato assente dal forum per un mese, e non ho potuto parteciparvi. Il 1967, del resto, è un anno particolarmente prolifico di capolavori.
